Goals:

The initial goals agreed upon by the founding members are:

  • Protect and maintain marine resources and the economic stability of coastal communities which depend on those resources
  • Ensure that new proposed uses of the marine environment avoid negative impacts on or do not supersede established use.
  • Minimize impacts through good stewardship of the ocean

About SOORC

Southern Oregon Ocean Resources Coalition

Mission

SOORC is a coalition of marine-related interests on the Southern Oregon Coast engaged in proposed uses of Oregon’s coastal waterways. SOORC works to encourage and facilitate dialog among marine natural resource dependant businesses so as to address their common interests and ensure access to those shared natural resources in perpetuity.

Purpose of SOORC

The founding members believe an informed and open dialogue between marine resource-dependent businesses and competing uses for those natural resources, both established and undetermined future uses, is essential. SOORC serves as a forum to address issues of common interest to its members and associated industries through facilitation, engagement, and communication. The founders believe in solution-based dialogue for the benefit of the natural resources upon which we depend.

Southern Oregon Ocean Resource Coalition (SOORC) is a 501(c)3 organization
